Hooray, I have Deepest Sender back. Apparently while the developer has posted it to the extension's homepage of MozDev, it hasn't been added to the "official" Firefox Extension site, so it didn't automagically update itself when I started using Firefox 3.5. Luckily I haven't had anything that really required posting while I was waiting for this to happen, but I got annoyed today and finally installed it directly from the developer's page. All better now.
Last night, drwho4 and I went and saw Blue Öyster Cult at Slim's. So awesome... though not as much Cowbell as I expected. That's okay though, they were awesome. About the only real negative about the show were the jackasses in the crowd who felt that pot smoking in a crowed enclosed space was cool, and the fact that the venue did nothing to discourage or stop them. Yeah, I support legalizing the stuff, but the shit makes it hard for me to breathe, so I get pissed when forcefully subjected to its smoke. Go smoke your shit at home, or somewhere open air where I can easily move so I'm upwind from it.
In other news, I think I've found use for my unused flat sheets from my sheet sets for my bed. I hate flat sheets, never use them when making my bed, so I've got a collection of them brand new from the package that have never ever been used. Recently in steamfashion I was reintroduced to a tutorial on how to make a skirt that looks kinda Victorian, and seems pretty easy to make... and looks like it would be even easier to modify and tweak depending on the intended context. Check out the "Victorian" skirt how to, if you're curious. Not only will this be helpful on giving me a project for some of my unused flat sheets, but it'll help me reintroduce myself to the sewing machine so that I might start doing other things on it too. I still have a collection of t-shirts I need to modify, and hand stitching all the altered seams takes too gorram long.

Well, that is annoying. I hadn't realized that since I'd upgraded to Kubuntu 9.04 that Amarok hadn't been submititng my recently listened tracks. Amarok was already annoying me because certain functionality I depended upon in it wasn't there in this version two development, but they'd decided to stop including the old version one-something when they did the last release. Annoying.
I did find a recommendation on how to fix it, and I'm attempting it right now. We'll see if it works or not.

/me whimpers
So, I'm working on Diziara's journal again, and I have her visiting New York City for this and that reason. She's a lover of Opera, Klingon preferably, but even Earth Opera is enjoyable for her. So I figured she'd visit The Met. I don't know if it's reasonable to assume that it still exists in the 24th century, but I figure that if any city in North America can hang onto it's cultural icons and centers, it would be New York. That said, it's also possible that something did happen to the original, and they built something new to replace it... that sort of stuff happens all the time in Trek.
Doesn't really matter at any rate, I was just popping into their website to get facts, and what do I find? They're doing Der Ring des Nibelungen, more commonly known as The Ring Cycle. The four Opera series doesn't get done very often because it's just so much work, and such a huge commitment of a company. I would love to see it, and The Met mocks me so, since I have no way to get out there to see it.
I will have to take consolation in the fact that I'll get to enjoy some musical theater, though it's Broadway instead of Opera, when I get to see Wicked half way through Feb.

So, since I did my Kubuntu 8.10 install, I've had a non-beta version of Amarok back. This has made me happy as there are things that they haven't added back into the beta that I'd missed being able to use, but they didn't make the stable version available in the KDE4 for 8.04. Also, I hadn't had the chance to play with the iPod using Amarok as drwho4 had given it to me after I'd made a full time switch to KDE4. Yeah, I'm apparently one in a very small number that actually likes KDE4. Go figure, I'm crazy or something. At any rate, the thing that caused me to comment on this detail now? Since I've gotten the stable version of Amarok back, it recognizes the iPod. Happy little Tomato shows up under devices and lets me see my music and playlists and crap. Also, it seems to submit my listening habits to last.fm. Shiny. So, my Doctor Who loving dork of a boyfriend (and he seriously is a dork... he has a pinstriped hat of awesomeness that has ear flats that tuck up inside, and he's taken to having mutton chops), he will now be able to rock a pair of converse high tops like our dear tenth doctor. :) We're going to see Wicked at the Orpheum next month, and he's going to be all snazzy in fancy dress clothes and his cons. So awesome. :D I've got a pretty dress picked out and I just need to call customer service about the order, since I want to mostly pay for it using an American Express gift card I got for Christmas, but the online form doesn't want to allow multiple credit cards... and I gotta pay for the remaining balance somehow.
Oh, and speaking of Doctor Who flavored dorkitude... I just finished watching the two part episode to end the third season of the new Doctor Who, with the Master. I didn't catch the first time 'round that the Master was enjoying himself some Jelly Babies while waiting for the little cyber balls of doom (not using The Master's fanciful name, nor the spoilerific real name in case there's someone insane enough to have not watched yet). He even had the little wax paper bag for 'em and everything! I am sad though, Cost Plus had been carrying Jelly Babies for a while, but the one by my work didn't have 'em in stock early December, and when I asked about it, they told me they'd been brought in as a summer candy. They're not a seasonal candy, gorram it, I want Jelly Babies! Need to find a right and proper way to give the company feedback and make a point to get Doctor Who fans mobilized to make the company aware of the fanbase they could be catering to. Bonus points if they start carrying the proper bags to carry 'em in. :D
Also, it should be noted that I'm within one CD of having a right proper collection of Babyland music. Technically there are more CDs I can purchase, singles and EPs, but there is only one more full length album I don't yet own. I aim to pick that up the next time I hit one of their shows. This fact makes me a very happy little fangirl indeed. Also, I took drwho4 with me to their last show up here in the bay area, and he seemed to have had fun. He also ran into a couple coworkers, one of which was in one of the bands that went on before Babyland. Very shiny, and the band was good. I look forward to getting a CD when they finally release one. I did snag one of their promo CDs which they were giving away. The band's called Savi0r, and they have a myspace page. I won't link it, since it's a myspace, but it's easy to find if you're so inclined, their user name is the band's name.

So, Hot Topic sent me an email saying that if I enter their contest, I stand the chance of being one of five people to receive my "whole" wishlist (read as up to $500 worth of stuff off my wishlist). Given that sometimes they happen to have cute stuff, even if it's over priced for the quality it is, I'm willing to take a little time, fluff up my wish list and enter the contest. I know it's pretty damn unlikely I'll win anything, but there's no chance if I don't enter, so eh.
At any rate, while doing this, I poked around their other account settings, as they seem to have done a lot of the site since I last actually took the time to nose around. They have space for favorite bands in my account information, so it made me bouncy to put the following list into the space provided: Babyland, Nightwish, Abney Park, BloodWIRE, Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin, Heart, Orbital, Edge of Etiquette, The Seatbelts. Edge of Etiquette is the one that makes me most happy, because they are just that geeky. The Seatbelts are pretty darn close behind Edge of Etiquette on the geek scale though, but only lose out because Edge of Etiquette is that much more obscure.
Totally unrelated, I am such a dork for pearls. I just bought another pearl necklace at Cost Plus today. I swear that store will be the death of me, especially with there being one literally across the parking lot from my work, but I will die happy of it.

So, when I popped onto my computer after getting home from work today, I found a delightful link from teferi waiting for me in pidgin. "http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vt_related_1&listing_id=15247386 I saw this and thought of you" it said. I am lusting for these shiny earrings now. *sigh*
Also, Thin Lizzy is much awesomeness. Very shiny, their songs make me grin. Like Cowboy Song, I'm not entirely sure what it is that makes me like it so much, I just know that I do.
So, I'm nearing the end of Anathem, and the more I read, the weirder it gets. I thought Neal Stephenson was whacked before, which is part of the reason he's one of my three favorite authors, but dude is going into really whacked territory with this one. It might require a second read of the book to properly parse, but the more I read, the more I like. I am especially digging the monks without all the religious baggage attached. Also, the vocab even stays crunchy in milk, and will give me something to chew on a while to come, as I decide what I can fold into my day to day use.
