Okay, I was talking to James in yahoo just a couple minutes ago. He tossed me a link that disgusted him. And it disgusts me too! There actually is a petition out there trying to get New Line Cinemas and Peter Jackson rename the upcoming movie, the second in the series made from the LotRs trilogy, The Two Towers. The reason they are attempting to do this is because they're "offended" by the use of this phrase for a title of the movie, and think it shows a lack of respect for those who died in 9/11 in the World Trade Center Towers.

What they need to understand is Jackson and New Line Cinemas are attempting to be as true to the books as they can, and they're not going to retitle the film just because a bunch of ~stupid~ people think it's offensive and shows a lack of respect for something that happened long after the books were written, and in no way shape or form could have been making reference to the World Trade Center.

Take a look at some of the signatures if you dare... But I promise you, the stupidity of some of these comments are down right scary.

I saw it... it kicked ass, and now I must do some Christmas wrapping, figure out what the hell to get my dad (yes I still haven't gotten him anything :-/) and finish reading Fellowship of the Rings. Then I move on to the other two books, and wait most impatiently for the last two movies to be released next year, and the year after. I must must must see more of my most favorite little creature, Gollum. I'm liking what little I've seen thus far, I think they did a good job on him.
